Whilst we recognise that NHS patients can now receive the full range of NHS treatments, unfortunately, it is far from business as usual.
Current restrictions means that the number of available patient appointments will be far lower than they were pre-COVID.
Additionally, as we have been unable to see patients for routine care for the past 12 months, we have a huge challenge in attending to the significant backlog of treatment. Our dental team is working hard to prioritise patients based on their oral health needs. Those with severe pain or potential tooth loss are treated first and appointments are reserved each day for these emergencies.
We understand and share your frustration of not being able to access your usual dental care. Patient and staff safety are the underlying priority and we do appreciate your patience while the practice adapts to meet these new protocols.
We have always offered our patients private options. If this is of interest to you, we can provide more information on our dental plan or pay as you go options. The private waiting list is considerably shorter than the NHS waiting list.
Once we have overcome this challenging period, we will be able to return to some normality with regards the availability of appointments. However, we still do not foresee this being possible for many months. Hopefully, as the vaccine roll out continues and we understand the disease better, the restrictions placed upon us will be eased.
Therefore, we are asking you to ‘help us help you’ and be patient to allow us to work towards a return to pre-COVID times.
If you have any concerns or queries please get in touch. We do want to help.
